A variety of exceptional quality conservation easels are available.

Donna Najarian builds easels for museums, conservators, art collectors, and artists.

The easels are praised by conservators and painters alike for their exceptional functionality, reliability, versatility, and for their sheer beauty.

The easels are built with hand-chosen wood, quality traditional joinery, custom made solid brass mechanics, precision gears, and a lasting finish.  

There are four types of easels available:

  • Small

  • Large

  • Angled

  • Photography

All the easels can be customized.     

Features of the Easels  

Materials Used:

  • Hand-selected Cherry wood (other wood types available upon request)

  • Ebony and solid brass for the removable handle

  • Solid brass side guides for the top clamp (Small easel only)

  • Solid brass for the front rosette

  • Solid brass for the flange/nut coupled with a 3/4" acme threaded rod

  • 3 to 1 gear ratio

  • Two locking casters in the front

Construction:  The body and main frame of the easel is mortise and tenon joinery.

Finish:  A minimum of 5 coats of tung oil and varnish applied by hand to bring out the natural beauty of the wood.

Wood choice, depth of trays and depth of top clamps can be easily changed.

Small Easel

Vertical Travel Only

Dimensions:

  • Overall dimensions are 67" x 24" x 24"

  • Painting tray is 23" long x 4.5" deep plus lip

  • Supply tray is 23" long x 5" deep plus lip

  • There is a 6" space between the two trays

  • The top clamp is 7" long x 4.5" deep plus lip

  • The base is 24" x 24" with 18.5" between feet

  • The foot rest is set back 6" from the front

  • The largest painting that may be held under the top clamp is 4 feet high

Large Easel

Vertical Travel Only

Dimensions:

  • Overall dimensions are 82.5" x 30" x 30"

  • Painting tray is 29" long x 4.75" deep plus lip

  • Supply tray is 29" long x 5.5" deep plus lip

  • There is a 6" space between the two trays

  • The top clamp is 7" long x 4.75" deep plus lip

  • The base is 30" x 30" with 24.5" between feet

  • The foot rest is set back 6" from the front

  • The largest painting that may be held under the top clamp is 5 feet high

Angled Easel

The painting will sit approximately 5 degrees back from vertical and travel approximately 8 degrees past.

Dimensions:

  • Overall dimensions are 89" x 30" x 30"

  • Painting tray is 29" long x 4" deep plus lip

  • Supply tray is 29" long x 5" deep plus lip

  • There is a 6" space between the two trays

  • The top clamp is 7" long x 4" deep plus lip

  • A second top clamp is 14" long x 4" deep plus lip

  • The base is 30" x 30" with 24.5" between feet

  • The foot rest is set back 6" from the front

  • The largest painting that may be held under the top clamp is 5.5 feet high

Photography Easel

The photography easel takes the basic design of the large easel and adapts it.  

This easel is usually site specific and typically customized.   

An inner pulley frame can be added for more clamping height.  

Some clients have chosen to mount the easel to the wall so that the horizontal travel is 8 feet up to 16 feet.  

The finish is a dead flat lacquer.
